Vehicle Damage

Driving over your septic bed can be harmful to the septic system and can cause a collapse or rupture. Always try to avoid driving over your septic system, especially in wet conditions when the ground is able to shift. Even light vehicles like ATVs or golf carts can be harmful to your septic system.

Line Running Downhill

A pipe sloping downhill away from your septic tank can lead to back-ups and drainage issues. This can occur from vehicle damage, but also from improper installation or the ground naturally shifting over long periods of time.

Line Choked by Roots

Tree roots can cause serious damage to your septic system by blocking or even breaking your drainage and distribution pipes. In some cases the roots can even penetrate the tank.

Line Choked by Fat and Grease

Grease and fat can be two of the worst things to put into your septic system. You should take great care to monitor and reduce the amount of grease and fat that make it down your drains. Grease and fat can float on the top layer of your septic tank, and if that layer gets too thick it will prevent the wastewater from flowing out which can lead to serious issues.
